Florent Ibenge hasn’t yet won one game at Kamalondo Stadium. His team, Renaissance Sportive Berkane, lost the first leg of their semi-final on Sunday 8 May against TP Mazembe after a very tight game that was broken up in extra time (1-0, 95th, John Bakata).
In a week’s time, the two teams will meet in Berkane for the second leg of their tie to try to reach CAF Confédération Cup final. Mazembe will travel to Morocco with a slight advantage, but Berkane will be keen to turn the tables in front of their home crowd. Coach Jean-Florent Ibenge was optimistic in his post-match press conference.
« What we regret about this is that we have not been able to use ball correctly. We sinned a lot more in inattention…but not until the end but also lost our nerves when the referee recovered nine minutes in extra-time. But we will continue to work because there is another game. We want to go to the final and we haven’t lost hope. We remain with our will to go to the final, » he said.
See you on 15 May at Berkane for knowing who will get place in final between Mazembe and Berkane.
